the three stages of bridal attention deficit disorder

bridal attention deficit disorder

The progression of the bride's state of mind takes place in three distinct stages.

  1. WEDDING RESEARCH: The newly engaged 'bride-to-be' starts the process of researching the biggest project of her lifetime and begins to ingest the limitless information of engagement, marriage ceremony, wedding receptions, and all the acoutrements.

  2. BRIDAL ATTENTION DEFICIT DISORDER: The 'bride-to-be' reaches a tipping point of 'too much information (TMI).' Compounding TMI is the plethora of unsolicited advice by every friend, relative, and business associate, once they hear of the enagement. This phase becomes physically evident by the obvious facial expression, known as 'deer in the headlights.' This state of overwhelm is called BADD (Bridal Attention Deficit Disorder).

  3. BRIDEZILLA SYNDROME: Unchecked, BADD can reach a third and final stage, called Bridezilla Syndrome, sometimes referred to as The Full Bridezilla. This state is typified by making unreasonable or impossible demands, ordering people around, hyper-intolerance, and excessive utterance of the phrase, "It's all about me."
